Dipladenia Madinia™ Deep Red

Moderate to moderately-fast-growing evergreen shrub to 18-24” tall x 14-18” wide. Best-suited for warmer climates, this Mandevilla hybrid has a more controlled, shrubby growth habit, with little of the vining tendencies associated with some of the large-leaf varieties. Glossy, oval, deep-green leaves provide a great background to the showy, 3” wide, trumpet-shaped, brilliant-red flowers that appear throughout summer, attracting butterflies and bees. Great as an accent in beds, borders or planters, and makes an outstanding container or hanging basket specimen. Thrives in a rich, well-drained, evenly-moist soil, and prefers a partial sun to light-shade exposure.

This attractive variety features narrow, medium to dark-green leaves accented with stems of eye-catching yellow flowers that rise above the attractive foliage in summer, attracting butterflies. Well suited as an accent or massed groundcover, or in mixed shrub borders as a texture contrast to deeper-colored broadleaf shrubs. Also makes a fine container specimen.
