Rich green symmetrical tree to 75′ Full sun to light shade. Incense cedar is an evergreen tree with a skinny columnar shape when young becoming only a little more rounded at maturity. It can get as large as 150 ft. with a trunk diameter of 6 ft. In these very large trees the long straight trunk is swollen and buttressed at the base and usually free of branches for half its length. Most of the cultivated trees are very thin. The bark is light reddish brown and scaly. In larger trees it is fibrous with deep furrows. The branches are flattened into vertical fan-like sprays of aromatic foliage.
