It is commonly used for mass planting as a turf substitute is planted on banks rock gardens and planter boxes.  It is often seen around tall shrubs or trees and even cascading over a wall.  It is effective for erosion control on moderate slopes.  Wiltonii will often be used for bonsai as well.

Wiltonii is tolerant of poor soils even clay as long as drainage is adequate.  Wiltonii prefers a dry sandy soil and it does best in full sun.
