Moderate to fast-growing evergreen shrub or small tree to 8-12’ tall x 6-10’ wide. This popular landscape species features large glossy leaves that emerge a bright bronzy-red in spring eventually maturing to a deep-green. Attractive clusters of frilly white flowers appear in spring adding further appeal to this widely used landscape species. Well-suited as a large screen natural or sheared hedge and can also be grown as a small tree or espalier specimen. Tolerates a variety of soil types provided they are relatively well-drained. Prefers a full sun exposure as shadier exposures can be conducive to the development of powdery mildew. Regular to light watering.
