Village Nurseries Wholesale Donates Plants & Trees to “Things Green” TV Show

Things Green gardening show is scheduled to begin airing on Los Angeles’ only PBS television station, KLCS-TV 58, on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 9 a.m.

The landscaping for the set of the gardening show is courtesy of Village Nurseries Wholesale. The nursery, founded in 1976, has major wholesale sales offices in Orange and Sacramento, Calif., and more than 950 acres under cultivation in growing facilities in Northern and Southern California.

“The donations are in keeping with our ongoing commitment to promote tree and shrub material installations for sustainable landscapes, especially during the current California drought,” explained David House, CEO of Village Nurseries.

“What makes season seven so special for us is that we did something we’ve never done before. We filmed the whole series in seven days,” explained Nick Federoff, the host of “Things Green.”

“Typically, we are in the field filming the show, but this time we partnered with the green industry’s cutting edge companies and built a spectacular indoor TV set. Village Nurseries saw our vision of creating the perfect backyard setting and donated all of the full-grown trees and hundreds of number five and one sized containers. The TV set turned out beyond beautiful!”

“Things Green” is a hands-on, how-to gardening show packed with information and ideas for the beginning and seasoned gardener.

“Once you get your materials together nearly all of the garden crafts, tips and tricks we share can be done in the amount of time we actually do them on television,” said Federoff. “And, since family friendly gardening is paramount to the show, you can easily engage children, too.”

The ending segment of each show is “Stop and Smell the Roses,” highlighting topical subjects with industry professionals and plant specialists. Suzie Wiest, regional marketing rep and new products chair for Village Nurseries, will be discussing new plant varieties on the April 2 show.

Host Nick Federoff has been a staple media garden expert in southern California since 1988. He is an inductee of the Green Industry Hall of Fame, and a 2015 recipient of the 36th Annual Telly Award honoring outstanding television programming.
